Background: 

Project to address the gaps in Verizon Cell Phone Coverage in the area.

 

Status as of August 18, 2025  

For the past three years, the Civics have been in contact with Verizon management, urging them to place antennas by the Glen Head water tower, as other providers have done. Verizon has declined, and efforts to have them explore other local sites were also unsuccessful. At this point, if the Verizon service is unacceptable the only alternative appears to be to switch to providers with better local coverage.

Status as of March 10, 2025  

Applications to install a Verizon’s cell antenna continue pending – over 2 ½ years.  We continue to monitor the progress of this installation to improve the deplorable local Verizon cell service.

At this point, the Civics are intervening to attempt to speed up the permit approvals; will keep everyone posted.
