Water Company  Supplier Project Status Update

Project to replace the privately owned water supplier for the area.

Background:

There is an effort underway to replace the currently privately owned, high cost water supplier with a municipally owned water supplier.

Status as of April 28, 2025

Negotiations are ongoing with the current water supplier company for a takeover of their services.  While details of the negotiations cannot be disclosed at this point, we will keep everyone appraised of the progress, however, we do want to share that negotiations are ongoing.

Status as of March 10, 2025

As stated in our previous postings, the Water Authority of North Shore completed a required assessment of the land, water tanks and other infrastructure supporting the Glen Head, Glenwood Landing, Sea Cliff and surrounding areas currently being supplied water by a private company, for the purpose of assessing the takeover of these services via a municipalization of the services.  Currently discussions are on the way with the private company providing these services.  Everyone is encouraged to attend monthly public meetings of the Water Authority of North Shore – visit the Water Authority’s website at: wanorthshoreny.gov.

Status as of Jan 26, 2025

The process to replace the local water supplier with a municipally owned supplier that would significantly reduce our monthly water bills continues.  A group of six local community representatives, selected by the local Towns and Villages, as required by law, are fully engaged in discussions with the water company supplier. The process required a lengthy feasibility study to be conducted by an independent company. This independant study  was completed, allowing the group to begin negotiations.

Next Steps:

Negotiations are currently ongoing.

As discussions progress updates will be provided here.
